Each day we work with families and individuals in crisis situations. Life can change so very quickly...

• A young family devastated at the loss of their father and can no longer afford the rent.
• A senior citizen, still working after most seniors have retired, lost her job and can no longer keep her home.
• A mom who’s plumbing in her home needs work and she can’t afford the expense.
• A senior in her mid-eighties laid up due to an injury, without a way to get groceries.
• A young wife struggling with her husband’s chemical dependency.
• A young single mom in need of car repair.
• A senior who is choosing between food and his prescriptions.

You can make difference in someone's life. Your support is vital to ResourceWest's ability to meet the needs of thousands of children, families and individuals in western Hennepin County each year.

You can make a difference with:

A gift of money: Did you know:  $30 will buy a backpack and school supplies for one child; to oufit one child for winter averages $100; or that a donation of $100 to Toy Chest can buy holiday gifts for three children?

Your donation assists individuals and families in your own community, and is tax-deductible.

A gift of time: The value of one hour of volunteer work is $19. To us - it is priceless! Our work would not be possible without the support of volunteers. Whether you can make a one-time commitment or get involved in an on-going way, your time and skills can have an impact. Contact us to get involved.

A gift of supplies: We are always collecting items needed by families and individuals in our area. Items needed include:

• Diapers
• Hygiene products (feminine, soap, shampoos, razors, dental care, etc.)
• Household items (cooking pans, dishes, towels, sheets, blankets, etc..)
• Children's clothing (please call to see what we are currently accepting)
• Car seats
• Baby furniture (cribs, swings, highchairs - call first)

We also continually collect items for our three annual drives. Learn more about supplies needed for the Back-to-School, Winter Warm Wear, and Toy Chest drives.

Donating Has Never Been Easier

Save time, simplify your life, and support our mission! We're keeping up with the times by offering our donors a new way to help our programs. Our new Electronic Donation program is an automated program that will allow you to make donations without having to lift a pen to write a check or reach into your wallet for cash!

Here is how it works:
You authorize a specified amount of money to be electronically transferred directly from your checking or savings account to our organization’s account. You also specify the frequency of the transfer.

It is fast, safe and easy! In fact, it is less risky than checks, as it cannot be lost, stolen, or destroyed. The electronic transfer will cost you NOTHING and you save the cost of the check. We can give you proof of your electronic donations for your tax records, and your bank statements will provide you with a record of transfer as additional proof of your donations.

Of course you can cancel your authorization of transfer at any time by notifying us in writing. But we believe that once you have enjoyed the convenience and savings of this new program, you won't want to go back to the "old-fashioned" way of donating to our organization!

Other Effective Ways to Give

It may be more beneficial to you and to us to consider alternative methods of donating. Ask your tax advisor or attorney to help you make the best plan for you, your family. Examples are: Bequests,

• Charitable gift annuities
• Gifts-in-kind
• Endowments
• Stock donations

Employer Matching Gift

Today many employers have programs already in place to match donations made by their employees. There may be limits on the types of organizations supported and the amount of the match, but be certain to ask your company about matching gifts.

United Way

If your employer has an employee give campaign through the United Way, write in ResoureWest as your charitable organization of choice.

Extra Ask for Donation instead of a Gift

An increasingly popular way of giving is to ask for donations to be made in honor of or brought to your event (birthday, family Christmas, office gathering, etc.). This is a great way to show your family, friends, and co-workers how much you care about your community while you spread the word about ResourceWest to your circle of influence.
