ResourceWest, a responsive community-based organization, assists people and strengthens the west metro community through collaborative programs and connections to resources.

ResourceWest (formerly the Hopkins Minnetonka Family Resource Center) serves the Minnetonka and Hopkins School Districts, assisting families and single individuals in the communities of Deephaven, Excelsior, Greenwood, Hopkins, Minnetonka, Shorewood, and Woodland. We have been providing support and assistance to our community since 1993.

Collaboration and coordination is what we do — and we do it well! We share information with other groups and organizations, attend fairs and multiple meetings, participate with both the Hopkins and Minnetonka Family Service Collaboratives, list with 2-1-1 (formerly First Call for Help) and continually update our resource information. We coordinate annual drives for school supplies, winter coats and gifts, coordinate a computer center and community meeting rooms, and host counseling and tax preparation services on-site.

Impact in 2008:

• Local residents made 6,700 phone calls and visits to ResourceWest.
• 1,026 students received supplies through the Back-to-School drive.
• 973 children gave approximately 2,000 items to the Winter Warm Wear drive.
• 1,025 children received gifts through the Toy Chest drive.
• 330 clients made multiple visits and 500 clients were referred to counseling services offered by Project Starfish.
• 184 emergency food bags and 1,104 emergency bus tokens were distributed through the ICA Partnership.
• 575 customers took advantage of tax preparation assistance through AccountAbility MN in Tax Season 2008, resulting in refunds totaling $978,880.
• 1,410 food boxes were distributed through MAC and NAPS.
